Aims and Scope

IJCV was Launched on April 23, 2020.

The International Journal of Coronaviruses (IJCV) is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal that focuses on the current and emerging field of coronavirus-related research. This research-focused journal provides an avenue for researchers to collaborate and disseminate knowledge on the many viruses, their biology, epidemiology, and treatment. Special emphasis is placed on the unique viral structural characteristics highlighted by the emergence of novel coronaviruses, with attention to their potential global impact and implications for public health.

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that can cause illness in animals and humans. Some of the most well-known coronaviruses include the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) coronavirus and the Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) coronavirus. In December 2019, a new coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2 was identified as the cause of a rapidly spreading outbreak of respiratory illness, now known as COVID-19, in Wuhan, China. Since then, the virus has spread to nearly every country in the world, leading to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The IJCV aims to provide a platform for the dissemination of the latest research on all aspects of coronaviruses, including their biology, clinical features, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. We welcome submissions on topics such as:

IJCV also strives to be the leading resource and platform for the global scientific community interested in the interdisciplinary field of coronavirus and other related research. The journal's aims and scope cover, but are not limited to, the following topics:

  1. Virology: studies on the genetics, molecular biology, and evolution of coronaviruses, as well as the development of antiviral therapies and vaccines.

  2. Epidemiology: research on the transmission, distribution, and control of coronaviruses, including the use of modeling and data analytics to understand and predict the spread of COVID-19.

  3. Pathogenesis: investigations into the mechanisms by which coronaviruses cause disease, including the role of host factors and immune responses.

  4. Clinical features: studies on the presentation, diagnosis, and management of coronavirus infections, including the identification of risk factors and the development of clinical guidelines.

  5. Diagnosis: research on the development and evaluation of diagnostic tests for coronaviruses, including rapid diagnostic tests, molecular tests, and serological assays.

  6. Treatment: investigations into the effectiveness and safety of treatments for coronavirus infections, including pharmacological therapies and supportive care.

  7. Prevention: research on the development and implementation of strategies to prevent coronavirus infections, including the use of personal protective equipment, infection control measures, and vaccination.

In addition to original research articles, the IJCV also publishes review articles, case reports, and perspective pieces. All articles are rigorously reviewed by experts in the field to ensure the highest quality and scientific accuracy. The IJCV is committed to making the latest research on coronaviruses accessible to a global audience. As such, all articles are freely available to read and download. We believe that open access to research is essential for the advancement of science and the betterment of human health.

Interested researchers can raise their profile and lead a special issue on COVID-19 as a guest editor.
